Clubs@Home Program Activities, Week of April 20

We are excited to begin re-opening select Club locations and invite you to register now for summer programming. In lieu of providing the traditional Club member experience during our shutdown period, Boys & Girls Clubs staff compiled a multitude of fun and educational activities for members and their families to enjoy. We encourage you to enjoy these activities to ensure learning continues at home.

    • Monday, April 20
      • Support for Caregivers: This week, our focus is on helping kids idenitfy what they are feeling. Check out the following article for some simple ways for caregivers to help with that!

        SEL Moment: Feeling our Feelings: Have a little fun getting to know our emotions with characters from the movie Inside Out! Bonus, if you can watch this with a partner, there are some breaks for "Turn and Talk." If not, doing your own reflecting is great, too!

        Brain Boost: What do you know about map making? After watching the video, make a map of your bedroom, your house or your neighborhood and then share it with your family!

      • Kindergarten: Listen to the story and then do this activity: A character is someone who is in a story. It can be a person, an animal—even a robot! Describe your favorite character from the story. What do you like most about them? Talk about it with a grownup.
      • Kindergarten: Escucha el cuento "Casi" y luego haz esta actividad: Un personaje es alguien en el cuento. Puede ser una persona, un animal- ¡hasta un robot! Describe tu personaje favorito del cuento. ¿Qué es lo más que te gusta de ese personaje? Habla sobre este personaje con un adulto.
      • Grades 1 & 2: Listen to the story and then do this activity: Think about your favorite part of the story. Then draw a picture of it.
      • Grades 1 & 2: Escucha el cuento "Un caso grave de rayas" y luego haz esta actividad: Piensa en tu parte favorita del cuento y luego haz un dibujo de esa parte.
      • Grades 3-5: Listen to the story and then do this activity: Choose a scene or section from what you just read and turn it into a comic strip or graphic novel. Be sure to include speech bubbles, thought balloons, and bursts for sound effects.
